What is EAL?

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a unique, hands on approach to personal growth and learning - guided by horses.

Through on -the- ground activities (no riding involved) participants work alongside horses and others to problem solve objective-based obstacles and learn personal insights, strengthen communication, team building and leadership skills all while having fun!

Why horses? Because they provide real- time feedback, responding honestly and intuitively to our body language and emotions, offering and expecting trust and respect in return for authentic leadership and connection.

How Do Teams and Individuals Learn?

By doing! Hands on, interactive workshops include exercises and discussions that take place in a unique setting guaranteeing that you will remember your experience. Workshops are guided by a certified facilitator and assistants who support participants to engage with other team members, including the horse, in a series of thought-
provoking, problem-solving exercises using and building critical skills. Horses naturally seek confident, fair and respectful leadership, clear communication and direction and they understand and look for team (herd) organization so they expect those abilities and approaches from their human team mates. And, they let us know if they find it! They respond honestly to the actions, interactions and body language of individuals and in this way provide immediate feedback and insights into individual and group dynamics. At Millbrae Learning Centre there are no classrooms – just an arena - and no presenters – just a 1,000 lb horse to support your reflection, practice, change and learning goals.
